78th Dressler Memorial Heads to CC of York
Hole 18 at Country Club of York
BROOMALL, Pa. – The 78th edition of the George Dressler Memorial Championship presented by LECOM and hosted by UPMC Pinnacle will be played on Monday-Tuesday, April 23-24 at the Country Club of York. The field will feature 110 of the Commonwealth’s top amateur golfers competing in 36 holes of stroke play across three age divisions. Divisions include Championship (up to 54 years of age), Senior (ages 55-64), and Super-Senior (ages 65+). The Donald Ross designed CC of York (par 72, 6722 yards) will provide a stern test as players aim to get into the swing of the season after a slow start to the spring.
The CC of York has hosted a number of state and regional championships, along with the 52nd United States Junior Amateur Championship won by Hunter Mahan in 1999. State championships the club has hosted include the Open (’14), Mid-Amateur (’94, ‘05), Senior Amateur (’62, ’70, ’82), Senior Four-Ball (’15), Women’s Amateur (’74) and Women’s Senior Amateur (’89).
The Association thanks the entire membership and staff at CC of York for their generosity and support in hosting the 78th Dressler. Special thanks go to General Manager Bryan Danehy, Superintendent Patrick Michener, and Golf Professional Kevin Bales.
About the Dressler
The George Dressler Memorial Championship was formerly the Pennsylvania Amateur Public Links Championship, requiring status as a public facility golfer for eligibility. The Pennsylvania Golf Association opened the event to any amateur player in 2016 and saw immediate growth in participation. Paul Garrison holds the record with five titles spanning from 1954-77, as Sean Knapp currently holds four titles from 2009-13, plus a senior division win in 2017.
