All Star Team Wins Sr. Team, Again

The returning gross champions from 2009 completed the repeat act with Rick Umani, of The Golf Course at Glen Mills, as a substitute for Charles Jones, who was competing in the USGA Senior Amateur Championship. Carl Everett, of Merion Golf Club, Don Donatoni, of White Manor Country Club, and Neil McDermott, of Llanerch rounded out this strong team. They continued their stellar play into the second round with an impecable 6-under-par, 134, for a total of 274, and an eleven shot victory.
The teams competed in a best 2 balls of the 4 per hole, gross and net. The champs stood in the lead after day 1 with a 2-shot lead over the team from Manufacturer's Golf & Country Club. Manufacturer's G & CC was made up of James Muller, Jim Macallister, George May, and Ed Roberts. They followed up their first round 142 (even-par) with a 3-over-par, 143, for a total of 3-over-par, 285.

The Gross Championship winners also came out on top in the Net Division with a score of 270, but one team may only win one prize. So, then there was a three-way tie for the Net Division Trophies. The USGA Tie Break system was put to the test in this manor: Team Score at Heidelberg CC; if a tie still exists the back nine score at Heidelberg CC will be used; if a tie still exists the score for holes 13-18 will be used.
Lancaster Country Club's Joseph Timko, Mike Peck, A. Fred Rudy, Jr., and Robert Felter posted a back nine score of 4-under-par, 68 to take the title.
