At the Pennsylvania Golf Association, we are committed to
the health and well-being of our members and Member Clubs throughout
the Commonwealth. To reduce the impact of the COVID-19 outbreak
conditions on our golfers, employees, volunteers and member club
personnel, we have decided to cancel all PAGA events through May 12. In
addition, we have delayed the opening of additional event registrations
until April 15. We did not make this decision lightly, but on the
recommendation of government health officials and other leaders, we
believe this is the prudent move.
Which events are
impacted?
All events previously scheduled to take place between now and May 12,
have been cancelled. This includes the 80th Dressler Memorial
Championship and the 1st Senior Open Championship and all qualifying
rounds.
Will my event be
rescheduled?
No. While it is disappointing to cancel an event, we will not be
rescheduling these events in 2020. The PAGA schedule, our regional golf
association partners and Member Club calendars create a complex task in
scheduling events. These various schedules will continue to become even
more complex in the coming weeks and months. For the future success of
our events and our partners in golf, we feel it is best to look forward
to hosting these wonderful championships in 2021.
Will I receive a refund?
All players who are currently in fields for events with start dates
from today through May 12 will be contacted directly by the PAGA via
email regarding refunds.
What about events that
occur after May 12?
We want all of our golfers to feel safe before returning to our events.
Our purpose is to conduct exceptional State Championships and we will
do so as soon as we can - as long as it is considered safe for
everyone, including the people we go home to after the round. We are
temporarily adjusting our registration policy to make each event
registration ‘pending’. This means that your place in the event will be
kept in the order it was received, but your credit card will NOT be
charged until the event is confirmed to move forward as planned.
Additionally, we are temporarily adjusting our withdrawal policy. If an
event is confirmed, but you are not comfortable participating due to
health concerns, all registrations will receive a full refund with no
administration fees.
When will events open for
registration?
Registration will begin on April 15. In light of the pandemic facing
our nation and the world, we have delayed opening registration for the
remaining events until April 15. We do however, have to plan for future
events on the calendar and feel that April 15 is the latest we can
delay while still providing the appropriate amount of time to register
and communicate with event participants. As noted, the PAGA will place
all tournament entries on a “Pending List” in the order they are
received. This means you can hold a spot in the tournament without
paying an entry fee until the tournament is confirmed to be conducted.
How can you stay-up-to-date
with the latest news?
We will continue to provide updates as this situation progresses. Visit
our website and follow our social media feeds for updates regarding
future announcements.
Thank you for your patience and support during this time!
We look forward to seeing each of you and enjoying this wonderful game
again soon. In the meantime, be safe, use caution and stay positive!
Sincerely,
The Pennsylvania Golf Association
