State College, Pa- Toftrees Golf Resort was the host for the 14th Father/Son and 5th Parent/Child Championship. Several previous champions revived their winning formulas to capture another title. In the Father/Son Championship division, the teams of Nixen and Roger Erdely (Hannastown GC) and 2017 Champions, Richard and Troy Berglund (Oakmont CC) held the lead after the first day with 4-under par 68s. On day two, the 2021 Champions and Llanerch Country Club’s Grayson and James Wingerter would tie the lead after a front nine 34. They would keep the momentum going on the final nine, shooting 33 coming home. Their 136 total would give them a 3-shot victory over Ron and Spencer Hinish from Iron Masters Country Club. RiverCrest’s Colby Komancheck and Micheal McKinney would take the Net Division Championship. In the Father/Son Forward division, Vincent and Steve Scarpetta would defend the 2022 Championship with dominant 10-shot victory, shooting 11-underpar 133.
In the 5th Parent/Child Championship Division, each of the four previous champions returned to seek a second title. Day one would see 2020 Champions and Valley Brook Country Club’s Craig and Ella McRoberts shot a 1-under par 71 to take a 2-shot lead over Hannastown Golf Club’s Ginger and Shane Brant and a 3-shot lead over 2022 Champions and Carlisle Country Club’s Daniel and McKylie Boreman. The McRoberts would increase their lead with a fine 33 on their open 9 on day two. The Boremans would make it close, down the stretch, with a back nine of 32 to cut the lead to 2. The McRoberts would finish strong with pars on their final 3-holes to become the first team to earn their second Pennsylvania Parent/Child Championship. The Parent/Child Net Division was won by Robert Cooper and Allison Wix. In the Parent/Child Professional Divsion, Toftrees and host Club Professional Steve Wager would team with his son Maxwell to take the Championship with and excellent 7-under par 137.
