Seven golfers from Northeast PA qualify for 111th Amateur Championship WILKES BARRE, Pa. – Qualifying for the Pennsylvania Golf Association’s 111th Amateur Championship continued on Thursday at Wyoming Valley Country Club, with seven additional golfers from the Northeast Region securing spots for the upcoming tournament on July 29. This group was led by Whitford CC’s Keller Mulhern, who finished a mistake-free round of 66 (-5) to finish atop the leaderboard. Mulhern did not bogey a hole and added birdies on holes No. 1, 4, 5, 10, and 11.
Steel Club’s Jake Haberstumpf was right behind, finishing the day with a four-under-par 67. Haberstumpf birdied seven holes (the highest amount of the day for all competitors) but three bogeys on the front nine kept him solidly in second place.
Country Club of Scranton’s Michael Sewack and Stonewall’s James Gradisek finished the round tied for third place with scores of 69 (-2).

Next up on this summer’s PAGA schedule are the 61st Junior Girls’ Championship & Team Championship and the 81st Junior Boys’ Championship & Team Championship, scheduled to begin next Monday, June 24. The Girls’ Championship will be held at Lebanon Country Club while the Boys’ Championship will be contested at Hershey Country Club.
