Lykens Finds Fountain of Youth

Lee Lykens

Lee Lykens plays his golf at Clearfield-Curwensville Country Club in Clearfield, PA. He has only been playing golf for about 15 years. After his kids moved out and he had a little extra time on his hands, he fell in love with the game of golf. He dedicates much of his time to a private driving range at a friend's lumber yard. He works on his short game endlessly and practices his putting at Clearfield-Curwensville CC and Totteridge Golf Club.

"I work a lot on my distance control from 50 to 120 yards, in 10 yard increments."

Lykens turned 65 a couple of years ago, and took the Super-Senior Flight by storm. In an 18 month period, he has won 8 Championships and finished second in 2 more.

Titles:

2012 Pennsylvania Golf Association (PAGA) Super-Senior Match Play Champion

2011 & 2012 PAGA Art Wall, Jr. Memorial Super-Senior Champion

2012 Center Counties Super-Senior Amateur Champion

2012 Sunnehanna Super-Senior Amateur Champion

2nd place in the 2011 & 2012 PAGA Super-Senior Amateur

Lykens plans to play in a USGA Senior Amateur Championship Qualifier in 2013.

"I've never tried to qualify, but I'd really like to see what a USGA event is like."

He intends to play in all of the PAGA, West Penn Golf  Association, and the Center Counties Senior events next year. Lykens would also like to start getting involved with volunteering at some other PAGA Championships and qualifiers.
