Sigel Match Play moves to Indiana Country Club
Broomall, Pa. – Due to extenuating circumstances, the Pennsylvania Golf Association was requested to change venues for the 12th R. Jay Sigel Match Play Championship from Fox Chapel Golf Club in Pittsburgh, to Indiana Country Club in Indiana. The event will be played as previously scheduled on the dates of July 6-8.
Here is a statement from Head Golf Professional Alexander Childs:
“Fox Chapel Golf Club is unable to host the 12th R. Jay Sigel Match Play Championship scheduled for July 6 – 8, 2015 because of severe winter damage to green complexes on the course. The recovery process is ongoing and very successful, however; at the risk of additional damage and providing the best standards possible, our recommendation for the Pennsylvania Golf Association was to seek another venue. As a long standing supporter of the PA Golf Association and major championships, we are looking forward to a return for this championship amongst many in the future.”
We wish Fox Chapel all the best for a quick recovery, and truly appreciate their continued support.
Fresh off of hosting the 26th Four-Ball Championship on May 19-20, Indiana Country Club stepped up in a big way during a time of need for the Association. Special thanks to the Board of Directors and leadership at Indiana Country Club, notably Club President T.R. Gatti, Golf Professional Dan Braun, General Manager Carl Germaine, and long-time member and former Association President, John McMurdy, Jr. We look forward to visiting Indiana Country Club and being their guests once again.
As a result of the venue change, the Association will be offering current registrants a full refund until 4:00 p.m. Friday, May 29. If you have any questions, please contact Cory Reighard in the Golf Office at 610-687-2340 x19, or at creighard@pagolf.org. Thanks in advance for your time and understanding.
