W.C. Fownes, Jr. Amateur & Senior Player of the Year
Point Structure Change
The Pennsylvania Golf Association announced adjustments to it’s 2009 W.C. Fownes, Jr. Amateur Player of the Year and Senior Amateur Player of the Year point structure.
The William C. Fownes, Jr., Amateur Player of the Year and Senior Player of the Year awards are given to the player that exemplifies the highest standards of excellence on the golf course in skill, sportsmanship and etiquette in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Amateur players will receive points in the following Pennsylvania Golf Association events: Amateur Championship; Better-Ball Championship; George Dressler Amateur Public Links Championship; Middle-Amateur Championship; Open Championship; R. Jay Sigel Amateur Match Play; The Art Wall, Jr. Major, and all USGA Championships.
The Senior Division will receive points in the following events: Amateur Championship; Better-Ball Championship; Middle-Amateur Championship; Open Championship; Senior Amateur Championship; Senior Amateur Public Links Championship; Senior Better-Ball Championship; R. Jay Sigel Senior Match Play; The Art Wall, Jr. Major, and all USGA Championships.
The W.C Fownes, Jr. Player of the Year and Senior Player of the Year will be awarded to the player who accumulates the highest point values across these events and meets the other standards of etiquette and sportsmanship.
The USGA State Team Championship will be held in 2009 at The Country Club of St. Albans in St. Albans, Mo. The Pennsylvania Golf Association will be selecting participants to represent the Pennsylvania Golf Association based upon performance from September 2007 (which includes the State Middle-Amateur Championship and Hemlock Championship) to September 2009.
