George Dressler Memorial Championship drops Public Links requirement
The 76th George Dressler Memorial Championship will come with a few changes in 2016. Formerly named the Public Links Championship, the event will now be open to all amateur members of the Pennsylvania Golf Association. The event will also include three flights - a championship flight for ages up to 54; a senior flight for those 55-64, and a super-senior flight for those 65 and older. The format of the event will remain a 36-hole stroke play championship played over two days. The Championship and Senior flights will play from the same set of tees and be eligible to win the overall championship, while the Super-Senior flight will play from a forward set of tees. Flight winners will receive crystal awards. The entry fee for the event will be $170 and will include lunch on both days of competition. This year’s event will be hosted by Carlisle Country Club on April 25-26.
USGA Men’s State Team spots up for grabs
The 2016 USGA Men's State Team will be held at the Country Club of Birmingham in Birmingham, Ala. on September 28-30. The USGA Men’s and Women’s State Team Championships grew out of the celebration of the USGA centennial in 1995 and have since been held biennially. The championships are open to players from all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. State associations may use any criteria of their choosing in selecting their teams, which comprise three amateur, non-college golfers.
Cumulative point totals from the 2015 and 2016 season will be used to determine members of Team Pennsylvania. Points earned during the current 2016 season will be doubled to put an emphasis on current form. The top two players from the point standings will receive automatic selection to Team Pennsylvania. The Championship Committee of the Pennsylvania Golf Association reserves the right to select the third and final member of the team.

Volunteers are the backbone of the Pennsylvania Golf Association. Our image and events are a direct reflection of all the time and hard work put forth by our dedicated force of volunteers. The Association is actively seeking new volunteers to help with all facets of our championship administration. Positions include: Rules Official, Scoring Official, Starter, Timing Checkpoint, Scorecard Checkpoint, and Spotter.
