17 Advance in the Central Qualifier
Rain & Cold Can Not Match Will & Haag's Shine
Brent Will rolls in this par putt on the 18th green
Harrisburg, PA – A wet and cold morning led into a breezy and mild afternoon on Fishing Creek Rd. The Country Club of Harrisburg hosted some of the best golfer's that Central Pennsylvania had to offer for the 99th Amateur Championship Qualifier. However, the course showed it's teeth and took no prisoners, as three of the final four players carded four over par, 75's, to miss the cut by one.
The day however, would belong to Brent Will and Kevin Haag. Will, a Pennsylvania Golf Association Individual member, and Haag, of Deer Run Golf Club, would each finish with a course leading one under par, 70.
The hardest hole, statistically, on the day was the 435 yard, par 4, 15th hole. However, it was no match for Haag, who holed out from the fairway to get into red figures.
Radford University grad, Brixton Albert, would play his way into the top three. Brixton, a Pennsylvania Golf Association Individual member, birdied three of the last four holes to end up at an even 71.
Qualifying rounds will continue throughout this week at Concord Country Club and Glen Oak Country Club and then at The Club at Nevillewod next week offering an additional 51 bids. Look to follow live scoring @PA_Golf on twitter and also daily recaps on www.pagolf.org.
